In the Area of the Plough Hotel, Yetholm
The village of Town Yetholm is certainly off the beaten track, but that doesn't mean that there aren't lots of things to see and do in the area.
The village is on the route of the St Cuthberts Way, a 62 mile footpath that leads from Melrose to Lindisfarne, and it is also at the end of the Pennine Way, which begins a gruelling 268 miles away at Edale in the Peak District.
The historic towns of Melrose, Jedburgh and Kelso are all a short drive away. Melrose Abbey is famous as the place where the heart of Robert the Bruce was buried. Much earlier it had been the home of St Cuthbert, who later became abbot of Lindisfarne.
Floors Castle is also not far from Yetholm. It can be found on the outskirts of Kelso and is the family home of the Duke of Roxburghe. There are extensive grounds and the castle contains a wealth of artistic and cultural treasure. There is even a restaurant and cafe to make the most of a visit.
